John Cafarelli - General Manager

John is the facility General Manager that oversees golf operations, agronomy, Bump's Restaurant, sales & marketing and maintenance operations. Prior to arriving at Finkbine, Cafarelli worked as the executive chef at three Troon properties: Valley of the Eagles Golf Club in Elyria, Ohio; The Lodge of Four Seasons Resort in Lake Ozark, Missouri; and Westhaven Golf Club in Franklin, Tennessee. Cafarelli, originally from Cleveland, has been in the food and beverage industry for more than 27 years. He graduated from the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio where he studied Business Economics.

Jeff Moore - PGA Director of Golf

Jeff arrived at Finkbine Golf Course as Director of Golf in 2010 after spending 18 years at St. Andrews Golf Club in Overland Park, KS. Moore has been around the game of golf for more than 30 years, either playing or working at a course and has been an active PGA member since 1993. He got his start like most do in the golf industry by working the carts and driving range at his local course in high school and continued working in the golf industry in college. After graduating from the University of Missouri in 1990 and trying his hand at sports broadcasting, Moore returned to the golf industry. Moore looks forward to enhancing relationships for business development as improvements on the course and clubhouse continue and continually growing the game of golf through lesson programs and promoting the game as a fun, friendly, relaxed activity that can be enjoyed by all.

Tim Gravert - Superintendent

Tim arrived at Finkbine Golf Course as the Head Golf Course Superintendent in 2020 after spending 10 years at Short Hills Country Club in East Moline. Gravert started working on the golf course during the summers of his high school years. Realizing golf course management was something he had a knack for, Gravert went to Kishwaukee College for the turfgrass management program and landed an internship at Atlantic City Country Club in New Jersey after his first year at Kishwaukee. Through a connection made at Atlantic City Country Club, Gravert began working at Bethpage State Park Golf Course after finishing up at Kishwaukee. Home to five separate courses, Bethpage State Park Golf Course is well-known in the professional golf scene for playing host to Ryder Cups, US Opens and other major tournaments alike. Gravert was appointed the course superintendent leading up to the 109th U.S. Open that was hosted on the Bethpage "Black Course" in 2009. Growing up in Morrison, Illinois, Gravert had the opportunity to move back to the Midwest when he accepted a job at Short Hills Country Club in 2010 after 8 years at Bethpage. As a lifelong Hawkeye fan, Gravert got word of the head superintendent job opening up at the Hawkeye’s home course and knew Finkbine was the next opportunity for him. Gravert is a Class A member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) and worked through every position on the Northwest Illinois Golf Course Superintendents Association board, including two terms as the board President. Dain Coppock - Head Golf Professional

Dain arrived at Finkbine Golf Course at the start of the 2017 golf season as the Assistant Golf Professional after working three years with the University of Iowa Athletics Event Management department. Coppock was offered the Head Golf Professional position at Finkbine in 2020 after spending the prior six months as the Head Golf Professional at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club in Florida. Coppock was originally born in Cedar Rapids, IA and began his golf career as part of the Junior Golf program at Elmcrest Country Club before getting his first job as a bag boy attendant at Cedar Rapids Country Club. Coppock left CRCC to work at Hunters Ridge Golf Course before attending the University of Iowa, where he earned a degree in Recreation & Sports Business. Coppock continued to work full-time during the summer seasons of school at Hunters Ridge before leaving the golf industry to work for Iowa Athletics Event Management in 2014. Coppock specializes in event management, junior golf programming, staff operations/management and customer service.

Jeremy Dorf - Assistant Golf Professional

Jeremy is one of the Assistant Golf Professionals at Finkbine Golf Course for the 2022 season. Dorf, who was born in Chicago and grew up in New Mexico, came to Iowa City to attend the University of Iowa where he earned a degree in Finance and a minor in Economics. Dorf’s golf career began working at golf course early on in High School in New Mexico. When he started to look for part-time work here in Iowa City, a golf course was a no-brainer. After starting at Finkbine in 2019, Dorf has worked at Finkbine Golf Course now the last three seasons, starting out as an Outside Services & Cart Attendant before moving into a golf shop assistant role this past season. Dorf's focus wil be mainly on Merchandising, Golf Shop Operations, Staff Management and Hawk’s Nest Snack Bar support.

Sarah Overton - Assistant Golf Professional

Sarah is one of the Assistant Golf Professionals at Finkbine Golf Course for the 2022 season. Overton is a native of Iowa City, graduating from Iowa City High School (16’) before going on to play golf for the University of Iowa for five years while earning a degree in Environmental Science and a minor in Sports and Recreation Management. Overton also worked at Pleasant Valley Golf Course during college, assisting golf shop operations and junior golf programs. Following graduation, Overton spent the summer as a camp counselor in Northern California and most recently this past winter as an aquarist intern at the Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park in Ft. Walton, FL, while also working at the golf courses of Sandestin in Miramar Beach, FL. Overton's focus wil be mainly on Lessons, Junior Programming, Outings/Leagues, Social Media and Marketing.
