Jeff Moore – PGA Director of Golf
Jeff Moore has been around the game for more than 25 years now, either playing or working at a course. He arrived at Finkbine as Director of Golf on April 1, 2010 after spending 18 years as the head golf professional at St. Andrews Golf Club in Overland Park, KS. Moore has been a PGA member for 17 years. He got his start in golf working as a cart and range guy in high school and continued working in the golf business in college. After graduating from the University of Missouri in 1990 and trying his hand at sports broadcasting, he returned back to the golf business. “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my tenure in the golf business and seeing people enjoy the game through playing and lessons”, say’s Moore, “My goal is to make Finkbine Golf Course a destination location for all the Hawkeyes around the state and region.
Zane Burgess- Head Golf Professional
Zane grew up in a golf business family. His father is a golf course superintendent, and grandfather a golf course owner as well as a PGA member. He was a well-accredited junior player, winning the Missouri Class 1A state championships in both 2001 and 2002 as well as the Missouri Junior Match Play Championship in 2002. In 2002 he was runner-up junior player of the year. His collegiate highlight came in 2004 when he finished tied 26th at the NAIA national championships.
Zane comes to Finkbine by way of St. Andrews Golf Club in Overland Park, Ks, where he was the First Assistant since 2008. “I’m extremely pleased and excited for the opportunity given to me to be at such a great golf course and wonderful community. I love the game of golf, not just the playing aspects, but the business side as well. I look forward to meeting and working with all the fine people that play at Finkbine and giving them the great experience they deserve.”
Buz Smith- Assistant Professional
Buz was born and raised in Dubuque, IA. At a young age he began playing golf at Thunder Hills Country Club. The club’s atmosphere, and the experiences that he had, inspired him early on to become a golf professional. Prior to working at Finkbine, Buz worked at golf clubs in Tallahassee, FL, Dubuque, IA, and most recently as the Assistant Golf Professional at Blue Top Ridge near Riverside, IA. Buz specializes in golf shop merchandise and is the Merchandizing Manager for Finkbine.
Jim Dickerson- PGA Teaching Professional
Jim Dickerson grew up in University Heights 2 blocks from Finkbine G.C. He started playing golf at age 14. He graduated from Iowa City High School and the University of Iowa. Jim retired from the United States Army as a Sergeant Major in 1991 and has been working as a golf professional since. He was the Regina HS girls golf coach, the men’s and women’s golf coach at Cornell College for 13 years, and has been a PGA Member and Teaching Professional at Finkbine since 1995. He is also the Director of Golf Instruction for the GIVE Foundation, Inc – Golf for Injured Veterans Everywhere.
