John is the facility General Manager that oversees golf operations, agronomy, Bump's Restaurant, sales & marketing and maintenance operations. Prior to arriving at Finkbine, Cafarelli worked as the executive chef at three Troon properties: Valley of the Eagles Golf Club in Elyria, Ohio; The Lodge of Four Seasons Resort in Lake Ozark, Missouri; and Westhaven Golf Club in Franklin, Tennessee. Cafarelli, originally from Cleveland, has been in the food and beverage industry for more than 27 years. He graduated from the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio where he studied Business Economics.

Rick McCombs was born in Des Moines and went to culinary school at the Culinary Institute at DMACC. He worked at many hotels and top restaurants in the Des Moines area before moving to the Iowa City area nine years ago. Around Iowa City, Rick helped to open Pat and Frans, worked as a sous chef at the Riverside Casino, and was the chef of a number of other restaurants. Most recently, he was the executive chef for Coe College. Rick started here in October 2023 and is already making improvements to the kitchen and changes to the menu. Lauren Schropp grew up in Williamsburg, Iowa, graduating from Williamsburg High School in 2015 and currently finishing up her Associate’s Degree at Kirkwood Community College. Lauren worked at a few restaurants in the Williamsburg/Iowa County area as well as here in the Iowa City area and has been a server/bartender here at Bump’s Restaurant since 2022. Lauren is excited to transition from her experiences serving and bartending to a management role and continue to make Bump’s Restaurant a place for the golfers of Finkbine and community to enjoy!
